Keys that will help you Read and Pray the Bible

I believe that what I am about to share has been true for most of us but I pray that after reading this you will truly be empowered to read the bible and not only read it but have it truly come alive for you.

I found that as I began to really desire to read the bible and learn from it, that it seems as if it was so deep and had a lot of hidden meaning. At times it didn’t feel as if I had any understanding or retention of what I was reading.

But in my journey I believe God has given me amazing nuggets that have helped me and now the Word of God is truly alive to me and in me. The written and spoken word God has imparted understanding and I along with others continue to grow in understanding and knowledge of the Word.  This is something that is available to all of us!

Let me share a couple of nuggets with you. Let’s begin with a scripture.

Luke 24:45 in New King James Version states it this way..

And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.

New International Version states it this way:

Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.

How cool is that? In this chapter the disciples are walking along the road and Jesus joins them (they don’t recognize Him at that point because He had not revealed Himself fully to them) they don’t have understanding about what just happened (the crucifixion). They are discussing the word and their understanding of it as it has been shared their whole lives. But in this moment Jesus joins them as they are in the midst of this discussion. Later He breaks bread with them and they have a moment of revelation. They see Jesus as the resurrection and life, as He truly is, but also the word becomes alive to them.

Where they lacked understanding He opened their minds so they could fully understand.

(Eph 1:18)  I pray that the eyes of your understanding being enlightened;

These are just 2 verses and there are so many more in the bible that describe what God desires for each of us. when you read the entire chapter of Ephesians 1 you get a greater understanding of the blessings of God and all He has released through Jesus His Son. All who believe on Jesus will be saved but also receive marvelous benefits as part of the rich inheritance He has imparted to us as believers!

So here are some Keys that will assist you and help you not only gain understanding, but lay hold of the Spiritual realities that are yours. The bible is full of treasures, and God wants us to discover each one and not only discover but fully lay hold of them and live inside of each one.

  1. Line upon line: as you read the word and you come upon a passage, if you read line upon line, the scriptures before it and the ones after you will gain greater understanding of what is being shared. Again, read Ephesians 1 the entire chapter and as you do you will gain understanding and become enlightened to what God has for you.
  2. Meditate on the word; as you meditate on the word it goes deeper and deeper in you to establish the truths inside of the word.  Example on how to do this: take a particular passage and read each verse and stop and meditate on it study it out. Then take the entire chapter and read it over and over, like daily read this chapter and meditate on the wealth inside of it. You will discover the richness inside.
  3. Memorize the word: as you memorize the word it again becomes alive in you.
  4. Then pray the word….example: Lord I desire for you to open my mind that I receive understanding. Thank you that you do this… Lord I thank you that your desire is for me to have the eyes of my understanding enlightened in the Knowledge of you and the rich inheritance that I as a believer possess. Thank you that you are doing this as I read the word each day!

Prayer for Those Who Can’t Speak for Themselves

Recently while in bible study I had a few verses that really stood out to me and I thought I would share them and also a prayer that goes along with them.

In Proverbs 31 the chapter starts with a message to King Lemuel from his mother who taught him with wisdom as he grew. She was grooming him to be a righteous King according to these verses and to not be given over to lusts of the flesh and rely on false comfort and substance that numbs the senses.

She shared that he should be a King that rules with wisdom and all senses sharp and care for the people. the main people group she speaks of if those who cannot speak for themselves and those who are and have been crushed and are being destroyed.

We as Believers in Jesus are also Kings and Priest before our God (Revelations 5) and are called to establish His Government on the earth. As we submit to Him he will lead us and show us how to partner with Him.   One way we do this is through intercession. We can be a voice for those who have not had one.

Here is a prayer that was written recently for this:

The scripture reference is out of Proverbs 31:8

Prayer for those who cannot speak for themselves

Lord, we come as priests and kings ministering before You our God. We cry out for those who cannot speak for themselves. Lord, we cry out for justice to be ensured for those who are being crushed by the enemy’s schemes. We use the voice You have given us and are speaking up for the poor and the helpless, so they may receive justice.

We pray for Your river of life to flow through us, Your people, to those who are hurting and abused and in need of You, so they can experience Your great love, salvation and abundance.  We pray in agreement with Your Word in Isaiah 61 and decree that Your Spirit is upon us. You continue to anoint us to preach the Good News to the poor, and send us to bind up the broken hearted, set the captives free, and open of prison doors. And as we have once been those who were broken, we now sing the songs of freedom for all to hear. We will go forth into the nations and be repairers and restorers and builders in the wastelands, and we’ll see the desolation of many generations brought to repair and complete restoration in Jesus’ name! We call forth salvation for the peoples and nations around the world who have not been able to speak nor cry out for themselves, and we declare they now have a voice and it is heard by the Most High God.

The Name of the Lord is a Strong Tower…

Recently I had a friend of ours share a report a doctor had given her that wasn’t positive.

This report obviously concerned her and her husband, but she could feel fear trying to well up inside of her and her husband and it was even affecting the atmosphere of their home.

She is a woman of Faith, but at times there are Reports that get released to us that are contrary to the promises of God.  There are also Giants that spew out threats and accusation to wear us down and try to cause us to give up and forfeit and live in fear.

Goliath spewed out accusation, threats of bondage, death and eternal slavery.

David heard these threats but was not moved by them, because he had relationship with the Lord and was acquainted with Him intimately, and knew His love toward him.

When he heard these threats and accusations that had instilled fear in the army of the Lord, he chose to fight because of the relationship he had with the Lord.

David knew where his strength was and it was in the Lord, in the name of the Lord. David fought Goliath with the name of Lord.

The names of the Lord are not just names they are spiritual substance, descriptions of who God is and all He possesses, His strength and Power.

When David stood against the giant, he was not clothed in mans armor or mans ideals, plan or earthly weapons, but He was clothed in the name of the Lord. He ran into and lived inside of the names and substance of the Lord and stood clothed in this spiritual substance that no foe can withstand and the end result was the enemy was defeated, beheaded and the enemies  of the Lord and His people ran in fear!

My friend also is intimately acquainted with the Lord and has chosen to remember how she is clothed and has chosen to purposely praise God as she examines every article of Clothing she has been given by the Lord and the armor she wears. She does this so beautifully. She has chosen to Run into the NAME OF THE LORD AND ALL HIS PROMISES and in this place she is safe and saved!

What an awesome God we serve!

The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe! (Proverbs 18:10)

I encourage each of us to study the names of the Lord and meditate on who He is and all He possesses and live and abide in the riches that He has released to all who believe. He longs to give everyone the fullness of Himself, and His salvation. He is such a loving God.

If you feel as if you are battling Giants that have been spewing out accusation and threats, I pray that you will find peace and refuge in the Mighty Name of the Lord Jesus Christ! He stands with arms wide opened!

We can do this through prayer as well, through naming His names and Praising Him for being that to each of us who believe in Him.

Psalm 91 Decree

I know we are all familiar with Psalm 91, but this week I am sending this in the form of a Decree. We can lay hold of the promises in the word and remember these are a part of our inheritance. This decree I have personalized for XP ministries, feel free to personalize it to you and your family and the areas you serve in, it is a gift of God to all believers.

Lord, we thank you for the awesome privileges and blessings that you have given to us. We now lift up and release this prayer over Patricia, XPministries and all those who serve inside of this ministry in any area and our families. We tuck ourselves inside of this prayer and the blessings inside of these promises.

We decree that XP ministries and all those who serve with this ministry choose to abide in the Secret Place of the Most High, and we will remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty, whose power no foe can withstand. We say of You, Lord, “You are our Refuge and our Fortress, Our God; in You we confidently trust!”. For as we do this, we position ourselves to receive the fullness of Your blessings.

You deliver us from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.

We thank you that You cover us with Your feathers, and under Your wings we trust and find refuge. Your truth and Your faithfulness are a shield and a buckler to all of us at XPmedia.

We decree, we will not be afraid of the terror of the night, nor of the arrows (the evil plots and slanders of the evil one) that fly by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction and sudden death that surprise and lay waste at noonday.

A thousand may fall at our side and ten thousand at our right hand, but it will not come near us! Only a spectator shall we be, because we are inaccessible in the secret place of the Most High, as we witness the reward of the wicked.

And Your word says that because we have made You our refuge and the Most High our dwelling place, there shall be no evil that befalls us, nor any plague or calamity come near our dwelling place.

We thank you for the angelic host that You have released to Patricia, and all that serve at XPministries , and we call them in. We thank You, Father, that these angels have been given charge over us to accompany us, to defend and preserve us in all our ways. We thank you for these angels and that they bear us up on their hands, so we do not dash our foot against a stone, and cause any harm to ourselves or others.

We decree that we at XPministries and all who serve in this ministry will tread upon the lion and the cobra; the young lion and the serpent we will trample underfoot.

Thank You, Father, for Your promises to us as believers. We set our love upon You, Lord, and we thank you that You deliver us.

We thank and praise You for setting us on high, and thank you that we have increasing knowledge and understanding of You more every day. We acknowledge Your mercy, love, and kindness and we rely solely on You, knowing You will never forsake us, never.

We thank you that when we call upon You, You hear us, and You answer us. You are with us in troubles and You deliver us and honor us. You satisfy us and show us Your salvation!

And now we choose to praise You for doing this in our lives, individually and corporately.

Many blessings to you all, in the mighty name of Jesus!
